Sewing Concealed Carry Purses in Teal and Gold Metallic Fabric

I recently received a request from a customer to make her a concealed carry purse out of Robert Kaufman's Beau Monde Metallic fabric (which has recently been discontinued-BTW), I was a little unsure of how it would turn out.  It is a very lightweight fabric, so I knew that I would want to add the standard 1 layer of woven fusible interfacing, but I thought I might need to add a 2nd layer, as well.

This pattern calls for adding interfacing and a duck interlining.  As I pieced it together this fabric really started to transform!

It went from being an ok, lightweight fabric to a heavyweight high end feel and look.  From a distance you would have sworn it was leather.

By the end of this project I was so in love with this purse.  To me, it looked like a department store purse.  My customer, I should call her my friend as this is her fourth purse, also wanted a wallet.  It wasn't until I went to take the picture, however, that I noticed the twist lock on the wallet was SILVER! Ugh!  At least she's a very understanding lady.

This is the Necessary Clutch Wallet from Emalinebags.com  and it is a very fun pattern.  If you have ever wanted to try a wallet, I think you will enjoy this one.

Teal and gold are a popular choice lately.  I also made this one for another customer earlier in the summer.  This fabric is an indoor/outdoor by Swavelle/Mill Creek called Fresco Atlantis. I was very pleased with the end product.

I bet you are wondering what purse pattern this is.  Isn't it lovely?  It is called the Iris Convertible.  I have altered the pattern to make it a conceal and carry purse, but the original pattern is from Celine over at BlueCalla on Etsy.  She has some BEAUTIFUL purse patterns that I'm dying to try.

Thanks for stopping by!  Oh!  Before you go...
