Christmas in July Ideas- Why Your Small Business Should Jump on Board

I'm joining my friends over at Patience Brewster in celebrating Christmas in July!  Patience is an artist and designer of handmade and handcrafted unique gifts and ornaments.  If you are looking for a unique and simply adorable ornament for friends or family members this Christmas, you should definitely check out her online shop HERE.

As I sat down to think about what I could do to celebrate Christmas in July, These are a few ideas I came up with.  Maybe they will motivate you to celebrate with us!

IDEAS FOR CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS IN JULY

1.  Host a home party

If you don't have a storefront, hosting a Christmas in July celebration at your home would be a fun way to grow some excitement for your business.  You could just invite some friends and family and use them as a sounding board for products you will have available in the fall.  This will help you get an idea of what is hot and maybe what is not so hot.  Of course, you would have food and refreshments, and with the crazy rainy weather we've been having in MO, I might even have some hot cocoa on hand.

2.  Have a sale

I know July is almost over, but there is still time to have a sale.  I might even have something for you if you read 'til the end of this post.  I'm sure we all have that one item or two, or maybe 15-20 (I'm in the 1-2 range b/c I only have about 7 items in my shop right now LOL!) that we would like to move out before fall arrives.  This might be a great time to lower the price and show your customers some appreciation.

3.  Offer Coupons or Discount Codes

Coupons and discount codes are a great way to at least get some traffic flow to your store now, and will encourage future business during the holiday season.  For example, if you have the home party I mentioned earlier, give out coupons for the person who brought the most friends or hand it out as a door prize.  If you have a sale, then give them a code or a coupon they can only use from Thanksgiving until Christmas.

4.  Host a 12 Days of Christmas in July Giveaway(s)

This one will take some planning, so you might bookmark this idea for next year.  This idea involves getting 11 other small businesses to host the 12 Day long giveaway with you.  Each business will have a day of hosting the party and giving away a prize from their shop.  The party then continues on until 12 items have been given away from 12 different shop owners.
