Concealed Carry Version of ChrisWDesigns Sugar and Spice Purse

I've been dying to share with you my latest bag!  I purchased the Sugar and Spice pattern from Christine over at ChrisWDesigns a LONG time ago, but only recently had time to put it together.

This bag looks a little fancy on the outside, but let me tell you, I think it is a pretty easy sew.  There is only 1 zipper and the rest are all slip pockets.  Yippee!!

I'm always looking for a bag that would be easy to convert to a concealed carry purse, and the Sugar and Spice had just what I was looking for.  The straps in the front are a perfect spot to sneak in a concealed zipper.

This was my first attempt adding some pleather to a gun bag, or any adult sized bag for that matter.   I can't say that it was the most enjoyable experience.  I purchased a Teflon foot, but that really did not help.  Using scotch tape on the plate and on the foot itself helped more than anything.

Here is a peak inside the gun pocket.  What I love about this bag is the fact that the gun pocket is truly hidden.  You can see the Velcro patch inside.  That is for the Velcro holster.

Like my other gun bags, the concealed pocket has zippers on both the left and the right side of the pocket.

I have to admit that I was jumping up and down after putting in these grommets.  They were my first grommets EVER!  I am so tired of fighting my machine when it comes to sewing up my bag straps.  I have been very disappointed with my Janome HD-1000 (I have no idea why it is called heavy duty!!).  My Kenmore was better at sewing thick straps than my new Janome.  What is up with that?!

I'm totally in love with recessed zippers.  I want to put them in everything now!

The inside of this bag is super easy because the pockets are all slip pockets.  No zippers!

I'm really pleased with this bag.  I'd like to try it again in a brighter fabric.  I'd also like to make the straps adjustable.  I really think all gun bags should be crossbodies, but I just could not get it to work out when I was putting this bag together.
